assistant veterinarian, who died in a tragic road accident along NH-
Late Talukdar was born on 1st January 1960. He joined the department as Veterinary Field Assistant in the year 1984 and was subsequently promoted to post of assistant veterinarian. Presently he was posted at Composite Livestock Farm, Nirjuli. He is survived by his wife, a son and daughter. The officers and staff members observed 2 minutes silence to pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul and to bestow strength to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss at this hour of grief.

State readies for Panchayat election
ITANAGAR, May 13: As the voting day is nearing, almost all the districts have completed their preparation for PR elections in the state.
The preparation for Panchayat election in Changlang district has been completed. The polling party along with security personnel have been deployed to conduct free and fair election. The voters on election duty were allowed to exercise their franchise at RO’s office on 12th and 13th before leaving for their respective designated polling stations.
Presiding over the third and final training held on 12th of this month at DIET Auditorium,
MC Roy, ADC cum RO, appealed all to update themselves with election procedures. He
urged all the officers to get acquaint with the presiding officer hand book and accept
election duty as a challenge. It is worth mentioning that, out of eleven ZPMs, the
Miao and Kharsang ZPM got elected unopposed. Being disturbed area twenty four polling
stations has been declared hyper sensitive and forty as sensitive in the district.
The inclement weather condition is posing big hurdle for the polling team to reach
to their designated stations especially those located near Indo-
Aalo: “Election being always sensitive needs careful handling and repeated trainings imparted to presiding and polling officers in various parts of the district is meant to refresh the knowledge and dispel doubts and confusions among the election related officers”, said West Siang District Election Officer M K Sahoo while chairing the Final Leg of Training to all Presiding and First Polling Officers at DC Conference Hall today. Exhorting the officers to equip themselves with sufficient knowledge and wisdom from the training, he said that success or shortcomings will largely depend on the officers deputed for the election duties and urged them to come up with serious commitment to conduct the election successfully.
The master trainer Henrik Basar who have trained the presiding and polling officers at various parts of the district, dwelt at length on handling of ballot box, sealing and other Do and Don’ts.
Yingkiong: The third and final phase of election training to the presiding/ polling
officials of the Upper Siang district in connection with the ensuing Panchayat Poll
slated on 16 May was held here at the Tourist Hall Yingkiong. The training was conducted

Former MLA opposes reservation of Chief Councillor Chair for woman

However, in the present case, the reservation of seats/allotment of seats have been done after expiry of last date of withdraw of the nomination papers when the electioneering is in full swing which is gross violation of the provision of Arunachal Pradesh Municipal Act’2007, the representation added. Such notification will deprive the duly elected Councillors to become Chief Councillor and hence requires cancellation for interest of the elected Councillors, they justified.
Lohit DDMA gears up for monsoon havoc
ITANAGAR, May 13: The District Disaster Management Agency (DDMA), Lohit under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner RK Sharma on 8th May held meeting for its member. The representatives of army, BRO, ITBP, CRPF and head of the departments attended the meeting. The main motto of meeting was to review flood preparedness of the district and updating of district disaster management plan.
Addressing the meeting, the chairman informed the members present regarding disaster management activities of the district and state government with special focus on natural calamities and its mitigation.
Recalling the disastrous flood of September 2012 which created havoc in the district, the DC appreciated the service rendered by the Army, BRO, paramilitary and civil police during the search and rescue operation launched by the DDMA, Lohit at that time. He exhorted team to have similar spirit and dedication in the future to cope with such natural calamities. Further the DC suggested all the departments to appoint a nodal offer for disaster management and submit the name with contact numbers to the DM cell who will liaise with the DDMA during the disaster situation.
A District Disaster Management Plan was also circulated to all the members and the chairman called upon them to go through the plan and submit comments and suggestions within a week so that it can be incorporated in the updated DM plan for 2013. Besides, all the departments were directed to prepare a flood contingency plan of their respective departments.
The meeting stressed that as flood is a regular phenomenon in the district, hence
all departments like Food & Civil supplies, PHED, Medical, Water Resources are suggested
to be pro active and remain prepared. The DDMA Lohit also decided to launch Disaster
Awareness Campaign in all schools and villages under the National School Safety Programme
(NSSP). Keeping in view the fire and strong storm hazard affecting the district every
year, the DC appealed all the HoDs to make their staff and family aware of the fire

of Greenfield Airport Project within Papum Pare district pertaining to selection
of project site, the Forum for Establishment of Greenfield Airport at Papum Pare
District (FEGFAPPD) said that objection raised by Banderdewa Intellectual Forum and

While pointing out the PIL filed at HC against the shifting of airport project from Karsingsa to Hollongi and subsequent order of the Court to maintain status quo on airport issue, the FEGFAPPD requested the organizations to refrain from ventilating their ire on the airport issue and live it up to the Court and on the suitability of the site on the basis of technical recommendation so that airport may come up quickly in Papum Pare district.
Expressing concern over the repeated hindrance in construction of important projects, be it railways or highways in Papum Pare district, the Forum also requested the Apex student body to refrain from opposing the establishment of airport. They should concentrate more on student welfare activities in the state and not on the developmental projects which is a government’s concern, the Forum added.
Meanwhile, in an important turn of event, the FEGFAPPD came out with a shocking exposure that the proposed airport site at Karsingsa has been encroached by local people and massive earth cutting and construction activities are going on inside the site earmarked for Airport at Karsingsa.
In its recent visit to the earlier proposed airport site at Karsingsa, a team of Forum for Establishment of Greenfield Airport at Papum Pare District found that foundation stones laid by then Union Minister Shirvaj Patil for airport remains as shamble and many dwelling houses had already come up in the entire project site. And the remaining areas have been converted into jhumming cultivation, it claimed. The Forum further alleged that lot of people in groups are still settling down there only to claim compensation if the project comes up at Karsingsa site.

Day before yesterday at around 6.30 to 7 PM a person who was driving I 10 [Silver
colour] car got stuck on the road near hotel Blue pine, Itanagar and subsequently
blocked the main road. He was new driver and was not able to handle his car. As there
was traffic jam because of his car, he approached me to help him as he did not know
properly how to operate back gear. I got into driver seat and helped him. While driving
his car I kept my money purse on the left side of seat. However, after taking the
aforesaid vehicle to the safer side I came out but unfortunately I forgot to take
back my money pursue from the vehicle. It is my heartiest request/appeal to the said
person on good faith I have helped him and he should kindly return my money purse

Corruption is hindrance for development
Dear Editor,
Through the column of your esteemed daily I would like to draw the attention towards the growing corruption which is hindering the development of our state. As a concerned student and citizen of this state I would like to know, what is the cause of delay in the disbursing of scholarships of state exams like NMMSE & NTSE? The scholarships which are to be given right after the declaration of result are delayed even for years. Students of our state get much less stipend than what student of other state get, that too with much delay. Why so? Is not this corruption, that too in the field of education?
Central government does provide funds for road construction and management of state for development, but where are those? Almost 90% of the funds go inside the pocket of the corrupted people. Development seems too far from our eye sight! This is one of the reasons that our state is lacking behind in development as compared to other state. The situation of Arunachal Pradesh is now like RICH PEOPLE GETS RICHER AND THE POOR GETS POORER. It would not be long when Arunachal Pradesh will be the most corrupted state in India or in the world.
